Tobias Koepp

As the Art Lead of this project my responsibilities were:

- defining look and feel
- creating the render pipeline for all shots
- lighting the day and night scenes
- night scene compositing
- creation of the rock environment
- texturing

Look and Feel

We kept the environment and models fairly low poly for a cinematic project to keep the render time low and speed up the asset creation for the 20+ different shots.

The geometry was modeled with a cartoony approach in mind and all models have handpainted diffuse textures to push the stylized aspects of our cinematic. As we want all information and detail painted in the textures we did not use any normal and specular map throughout the whole project (with very little exceptions).

Texturing

Towards the end of the project I worked on getting all the textures on the same level.  Those include all vegetation, the final rocket stage, tools, rocks and Cosmosaurus.
