I worked as team lead during the pre-production and production stages of this project, and my main tasks during that time were:
- planning, prioritizing & monitoring work progress
- presenting milestones to our lecturers and fellow students
- gathering feedback and incorporating it into our workflow
- writing design documents to communicate our vision
- quality assurance & problem solving
- research & prototyping

Due to my previous experience, I switched jobs to be a compositing artist once we entered the post-production stage. I planned and performed the final compositing on the entire movie except for the first night scene. The programs I used were Autodesk Composite for the general composition and colour corrections, and Adobe After Effects for more responsive fine tuning and special effect shots. The main tasks involving the compositing process were:
- conduct research and create test compositions to find an optimal render setup and a consistent visual style
- setting up a compositing pipeline that let me update and preview material effectively
- management and quality assurance of over 60gb footage data in full HD openEXR files
- detecting minor errors in the footage and fixing them in compositing
- compositing all render layers
- selective colour corrections using object ID render passes
- adding special effects and particles
- rendering the finished compositions and forward them to editing

This slideshow demonstrates my general workflow in Autodesk Composite. I built a basic setup that could be applied to every individual scene and then be further modified to achieve a consistent look throughout the movie.
I used Adobe After Effects for fine tuning and special effects addition because I am more familiar with its masking and camera stabilization tools. All particle effects were created and rendered in Maya by our technical artists and then composited into the final movie by me.
